The coolest Katrina story I have seen yet was an interview by Greta van Sustern with a young man who drove a bus full of people he picked up along the way from NO to the Astrodome.

He had found a bunch of buses in a schoolyard and saw the damaged building in which the keys were kept. Although he had never driven a bus before, he matched keys with a bus and started off, picking up people along the way who looked like they needed help.

People on the bus had heard on the radio about a relief center in the Astrodome, so they headed off to Houston. They stopped three times for gas, paid for by collecting from the bus riders, and finally made it there.

At least someone was able to make use of a bus to save some other people. Kind of illustrates the message of not waiting around for someone else--do it yourself.

    Hilarious!!!

I've added a link to that "bus art" on the "re-elect Mayor C. Ray Nagin" poster on my own blog..

You're invited to come check it out if you'd like!
