New Bullet Point In The Presidential Job Description: **must be a mind reader

President Bush is now being held accountable for not implementing recommendations included in a hurricane disaster plan that he received on September 3rd, 6 days after Hurricane Katrina made landfall in Louisiana. The article speaks of:

"a hurricane simulation that projected 61,290 dead and 384,257 injured or sick in a catastrophic flood that would leave swaths of southeast Louisiana uninhabitable for more than a year."

This project had been going on for more than a year and the reports were all but complete when Katrina showed up. Unfortunately, there is no way the information could have helped New Orleans prepare as the report was not submitted to the proper authorities until they were in the depths of a rescue effort.

The article fails to mention that the documents never made it to the White House until September 3rd until AFTER the writer suggests that the federal government failed:

"Their fictitious storm eerily foreshadowed the havoc wrought by Category 4 Katrina a few days later, raising questions about whether government leaders did everything possible _ as early as possible _ to protect New Orleans residents from a well-documented threat."

suggesting that because the report was complete (although it had not been delivered), it could have saved thousands of lives had the plans it contained been implimented by the government. I'm sure it could have saved lives - if only it had been in the right hands.

Amazing. I must be the only one who didn't know our President was clairvoyant.
