THE OPINIONATED RANTINGS OF A CONSERVATIVE MOM

Sunday, December 18, 2005

Paint a bullseye on your butt, Reid, cause we'z a gunnin' for ya now!

Excuse me for being so abrupt, but Senator Harry Reid is really starting to piss me off. Anymore, when you hear the dems squawking and calling for an investigation or a hearing or an indictment, it’s his ugly mug at the front of the line, squawking the loudest.

I will say, though, that he has opened up a whole new can of worms and invited conservatives to hold his feet to the fire with his latest quote.

While telling the MSM the current Republican-led Congress is "the most corrupt in history", he made this statement:

"I feel totally at ease that I haven't done anything that is even close to being wrong."

If that’s not an invitation to dig up everything that joker has ever done in his life, I don’t know what is. And when it happens…and it will…you can bet your bippy I’ll be squawking (and doing the I-told-you-so dance).

Excuse me for being so abrupt, but Senator Harry Reid is really starting to piss me off. Anymore, when you hear the dems squawking and calling for an investigation or a hearing or an indictment, it's his ugly mug at the front of the line, squawking the loudest.

There is actually a reasonable answer to why Harry Reid is everywhere. Its becuase it's his job as the Senate Minority Leader.

As Wikipedia indicates, the Senate Minority Leader is a member of the United States Senate who is elected by the party conference which holds the minority in the Senate to serve as the chief Senate spokesperson for his or her party and to manage and schedule the legislative and executive business of the Senate. By custom, the Presiding Officer gives the Minority Leader priority in obtaining recognition to speak on the floor of the Senate.

The minority leader is often assisted in his role by whips, whose job is to enforce party discipline on votes deemed to be crucial by the party leadership and to ensure that members do not vote in a way not approved of by the party. Some votes are deemed to be so crucial as to lead to punitive measures (such as demotion from choice committee assignments) if the party line is violated; decisions such as these are often made by the minority leader in conjunction with other senior party leaders.

In fact, there have been very vocal Senate Minority Leaders in our history from both sides of the aisle. C. Trent Lott, Thomas A. Daschle, Robert J. Dole Jr., Robert C. Byrd and Howard H. Baker Jr. to name just a few.

This is done to ensure that there is always a Democratic leader and a Republican leader in the Senate. Depending on which party has the majority in the Senate, one of these becomes the majority leader and one becomes the minority leader.

Thanks, POC. I was actually feeling the same way that PI mom was about Senator Reid. I guess now I should get used to seeing his ugly mug around the TV.

In fact I think we should all get used to seeing his ugly mug for a long long long time. Because the Republicans are going to be winning the congree vote for a long long long time. So Sen. Reid (D) will be the MINORTIY leader-guy and there is nothing any of the dirty dems can do to change that!!!

    Long Live The Rad Republicans!!!

    Reps Rule, Dems Drool!
