A Few Words on Natalee Holloway

First, to all those who think the Natalee Holloway story has received too much air time - just shut up, ok? If it was your daughter, sister, mother, girlfriend or any other loved one, there wouldn't be enough television/radio stations or websites to cover the news for you 24/7, so just get over yourself.

I get most of my news from the web. I don't watch much television. On this subject I've read everything from conspiracy theories regarding the Aruban Judge and his son, to theories that Natalee took off on her own because her very affluent life was so miserable with an abusive step-father (you guys are idiots!).

Before I give my take on this subject, I will say that we've all read about how lovely the local Aruban community has been and how helpful and full of sorrow they all are. I don't doubt that most of them are mortified by what has happened. However, anyone who has traveled outside the United States in the past few years can tell you that no matter where you go, the rest of the world judges you according to the way they feel about your government. Whether you are Republican or an Idiot....I'm sorry, did I type that out loud? I meant Democrat.....you are judged according to your affiliation with the United States Government and the part it is currently playing in world politics. Why is it, then, that we are so hesitant to hold ALL of Aruba responsible for what their government is doing in this case? Oh, that's riiiiiiiiight.......it would be politically incorrect!

I've got a clear-cut solution to this ongoing saga.......cut them off! That's right - call it "Tourism for Natalee". When you give us closure to this case - we give you back your tourism. Issue no more travel visas for Aruba and while we're at it - cut off anything we're currently selling them. This island is less than 20 miles long and 6 miles wide at it's widest point. We're talking about an island that is slightly larger than Washington, D.C. and has a population that is 1/80 the population of New York City. Tourism is their pillar. You wouldn't think they would want to mess around with the hands that feed them, but maybe the rest of the world is beginning to see how soft we've become.

It took the authorities in Aruba several weeks to give the FBI approval to review the case files, and even now, there is a motion before the court asking that the FBI be excluded from this investigation. What on earth do they have to hide? If they are doing everything they can to find the answers, why not enlist every bit of help you can get? Let's face it; the chances of Natalee being alive are about 1 in eleventy billion by now. In fact, the chances of ever retrieving a body are just about the same - but somebody knows something - in fact, I would be willing to bet that more than a few people know more than a little bit about what really happened to Natalee Holloway. I say we strong-arm the government who has been far from cooperative into resolving this case by hitting them where it hurts the most - in the cash register. Let's quit singing Kumbaya with these people and use what we've got.

My heart and prayers go out to Natalee's family, friends and community while they await closure in this case. Beth Holloway Twitty, Natalee's mother, returned home today empty handed, after two months of frustrated waiting on a government who has virtually thumbed their noses at the United States by saying this investigation is none of our business. I certainly hope that this whole, horrifying incident becomes an ugly stain on "paradise" until they quit dragging their feet and protecting their own and give the Holloway-Twitty family some dignified closure.

Helmet Shmelmet

Last year the oh-so-intelligent "Powers That Be" in the State of Pennsylvania decided it was no longer necessary for adults who ride motorcycles to wear a helmet. Now, my evil alter-ego tells me that this is merely population control. Only stupid people would ride a motorcycle without a helmet, thus more stupid people will be killed or maimed and unable to procreate, thereby.....reducing the population of stupid people, right? Of course the American Motorcyclist Association applauded this decision and our great liberal Governor "Fast Eddy" for this decision. As a result, every village idiot and their sidekicks are now riding the highways, streets and back roads of Pennsylvania without helmets.

A couple of days ago, an acquaintance of mine who is a seemingly intelligent adult, implied that I was calling his intelligence into question (claims he has an I.Q. of 139....mine is 141, but who's counting?) when I suggested that riding his Harley without a helmet was irresponsible.

Here's my rant (which I give because I CAN!)... Wearing a helmet is not about YOU. As grown-ups, parents, responsible adults - we do a lot of things that might make us slightly uncomfortable because it makes sense. We wear a seatbelt, we drive safer, we take care of ourselves, we don't quit our job every time our employer aggravates us - why???? Because there are people who count on us. People who need us around, need us to provide for them and be there for them. This is not a "mom thing". Anyone with the most remote slice of responsibility, even in the absence of children should just KNOW BETTER. The problem is, they don't know better. Stupid abounds and unfortunately as a result, the government some times has to step in and force stupid people to do the right thing.

Does the government already interfere in our lives more than they should? I don't know. As long as stupid people keep breeding, we're going to have to have laws which require parents to strap their kids into child safety seats (ironically, I still see kids walking and jumping across the back seat of a car from time to time - not strapped in!) and requiring us to buckle up, vaccinate our children and yes, wear helmets. Another thing that amazes me is that most communities in the area I live require people to wear a helmet on a bicycle - even adults - but not on a 500 - 1400 lb motor vehicle that can move like a rocket. Like I said, stupid abounds.

I predict that the State of Pennsylvania will finish calculating their statistics some time around summer of 2006 and realize that the motorcycle related deaths resulting from head trauma have skyrocketed and have to say, "gee Eddy, maybe that wasn't such a good idea after all!". Much like the early 80's when the State of New York thought it might be fun if the drinking age was 19 years old. I think it only took them a year to calculate the hideous increase in DUI related deaths in drivers between 19-21.

I guess I said all that to say this......My apologies to all those bare-headed idiots who complain that the government does too much meddling in our private lives. Did you ever stop to think that perhaps if you weren't so stupid, the government could move on to bigger and better things?

About Me

Ok, about me...

I'm a 30-something mother living in Pennsylvania with two of the most beautiful daughters on the face of the earth. I know - you all think your daughter's are the most beautiful - but trust me, mine really are.
I work in management, surrounded some times by the biggest idiots on the planet.

My theory is....stupid should hurt. If only we could implant a stupid sensor in every living human so that when they think a stupid thought they could get a little jolt...when the thought is verbalized the jolt gets a little stronger and once the verbalized stupidity becomes an action, they get a full-on ZAP that knocks them off their feet like a taser. In a perfect world, I would be the Empress and this would be a reality. In the mean time, those of us who are intellectually superior have to put up with idiots, which is, in a nutshell, what gave birth to this blog. A place to say the things that run through my brain on a daily basis that are politically incorrect ..... inappropriate....improper...unbecoming and sometimes just down-right mean....but TRUE, nevertheless.

Some things I'm not - I'm not a writer, which is evident. I'm not even that great of an editor - so there will be spelling and syntax errors throughout this blog. Regarding those errors - I don't care. This blog represents my alter-ego. The person I wish I could be on a daily basis with the people who live and work around me, but due to professional and social standards, I'm not always able to say what's on my mind. It's sort of my "padded room", where I get to go and shout out my opinion on anything and everything because that's the beauty of blogging.

Now for a few things that I love to think but can't usually say...

  • George W. Bush is my hero. He's doing a hell of a job and I challenge any liberal chuckle-head to do better.
  • If Hillary Clinton had an ounce of self-respect she would have divorced the LOSER and devoted the rest of her political career to his public humiliation.
  • The Government of the United States (yes, even my hero "W") and the State of Florida FAILED Terry Schindler (Schiavo) and her loser husband murdered her.
  • Abortion is murder.
  • Stupid people shouldn't breed.
  • The only way to fight terrorists is to KILL THEM and never, ever, ever give in.
  • We were absolutely, 100% RIGHT to invade Iraq. WMD or not - we were right.
  • If the liberal chuckle-heads think we've done such a terrible job of taking care of prisoners of war - I think they should take turns taking them into their homes and caring for them in a more "proper" and humane manner.
  • When you kill 2,752 people in one day (or have even the most remote part in the act) you are sub-human, therefore, you should be allowed NO HUMAN RIGHTS.
  • Natalie Maine should move to Iraq.
  • Ditto Jane Fonda, Ed Asner, Matt Damon, Johnny Depp, Mia Farrow, Melissa Gilbert and everyone else on this list.
  • If I offend you in any way by the things I post in this blog - I will probably apologize, but I probably won't really mean it.
  • Call me a prude if you want - but Howard Stern should be in jail.
  • Inside me lives a skinny woman crying to get out...but I can usually shut her up with cookies.
More as I think of things......
